Frequently Asked Questions
PTSD, ANXIETY, EMDR
What is trauma?
Trauma can look different for everyone. My perspective is this: if it was traumatic to you, then we can process it, no judgement. There are DSM-V specifications of trauma including the well known forms such as abuse, catastrophic event, or any life threatening situation, etc. But I believe that trauma can be experienced in small (little t) ways as well.
I don’t have any of the typical/common traumas, could EMDR still help me?
Yes! I have used EMDR therapy to help clients learn about where their depression or anxiety originated as well as helped them form different a perspective on those events. We can also replace negative beliefs into positive ones using EMDR.
How much does counseling cost?
Intake session: $220
55 minute session: $200
Does EMDR work for everybody?
No specific therapy works for everyone, however, I have yet to meet someone that didn’t benefit from EMDR therapy. I would get approval from a doctor to do EMDR therapy if you are pregnant or have a history of a TBI or concussions.
Do you do traditional talk therapy, too?
Yes! My specialty is EMDR and trauma, however, if you are not comfortable with that or are maybe seeking therapy for adjustment periods or loved ones, I have been traditionally trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well.
